Just here in the UK we’ve been talking about the US election, Oasis, cocktails and Kate Middleton, just to get a taste of our search chaos.

What we were looking for in 2024
This won’t come as too much of a surprise to anyone living in this football-mad nation, but the European Championships were at the top of our search in 2024. Whether you were cheering on your national team or just enjoying the camaraderie, it was hard to avoid this Euros season altogether.
However, some of the other searches were a little less predictable.

This year saw a general election in the UK and although turnout was lower than the last election in 2019, those who voted were keen to ensure they got their votes effectively.
Get Oasis tickets
In a twist that none of us could have predicted, the Gallagher brothers of Oasis announced that not only were they reunited, but they also had a packed stadium tour ahead of them. Of course, it’s hard enough to get tickets to shows these days, but when it’s the reunion of the decade? Essential.

It was a great year for boxing, with big names competing in fierce competition and fans coming together online to predict winners and losers and share their thoughts during the fights.

According to the experts at Giraffe Cocktails, the Pornstar Martini is the most popular cocktail in the UK in 2024 and it looks like we’ve tried making our own at home too.

The US election was
Of course, the US elections also took place this year and after a turbulent campaign, Donald Trump won the presidency and will take office in January 2025.
The budget was
The budget was passed on October 30th. In case you didn’t know, the Budget is a statement from the Chancellor to MPs in the House of Commons setting out the Government’s plans for the economy. This was particularly interesting as it was the first time a Labor government had been elected in over a decade.
The European Championship final was
The European Championship final took place on July 14th and although England reached the final, they were beaten 2-1 by Spain. It was a great tournament and even if people weren’t paying attention, the tense atmosphere of a football final is hard to resist.
It was Corrie’s turn
Some things change, some things stay the same. Good old Coronation Street has been gracing our screens for almost 65 years and when it comes to soaps, Corrie is still going strong. It usually takes place around the same time every day, but with several sporting events taking place throughout the year, it was essential for soap heads to keep track of when the time changed.
